The suitcases were packed, and we were waiting at the front door for our taxi to the airport. Erin was desperate to get on the aeroplane and start her little adventure in the sun.
We had heard Palma was hitting 36 degrees on the day we were due to arrive. Normally this would be the perfect weather to be heading towards but being 6 months pregnant, I was not so sure. I wanted to make sure the transition from home to the airport ran smoothly. Once we had arrived at the airport I wanted to make sure that Erin was in the stroller and that we were at the check in desk in good time. The telescopic pull along handle was perfect as we could get the stroller out of the taxi and there was no stress as it was just a case of unzipping the bag and sliding the stroller out and with a one hand fold – it was ready to go!
The airport was very busy but we managed to get a table so that we could have the Dockar tradition of a bacon sandwich and a very strong coffee especially as we were flying at 4am. We were unable to get a high chair but Erin was happy to stay in her stroller as it was table height. The actual padding on the seat is so thick and soft it really gave her the comfort that a memory foam mattress would give you at home in bed, so if I was 2 years old I would not want to get out of it either. The harness pads were again acting like mini pillows and she could really snuggle into them. When it came to boarding the plane, the stroller could not have been easier to fold down and put into the bag. It was then handed to the aircraft loading staff to take on board. The actual stroller could have fitted above your head in the luggage compartments, but as we already had our hands full it was placed in the hold of the plane.
On arrival in Palma we had a coach transfer. Again, having the use of the handle to steer was so easy, we could steer the stroller through the airport and onto the coach. The compact fold meant that when we arrived in our hotel rooms, we could fit the stroller behind the tables and chairs with no bother at all. Our days were mostly spent by the pool. As sunbeds were limited due to most people being up early to get their spot Erin would sleep in the stroller with it fully reclined and the hood down for shade. The air vented sides are a great idea as the breeze helped her drift off to sleep. That and the sound of water and children playing were much more soothing than an air-conditioned bedroom in darkness.
Even back in the room Erin wanted to sit in it and pretend to sleep!
Most evenings we stayed around the hotel due to the children’s entertainment. I found that having the little pocket at the back of the hood was great for storing my phone, money and most importantly lipstick. It also meant that I didn’t need to take a big changing bag with me. The basket was spacious, and it was easy to reach even when sitting on a chair. It was ideal for her water bottle, baby wipes and numerous toys that she had collected along the way. The stroller is super lightweight which meant I could carry it folded with one hand and move it around easily. Overall I was very impressed and recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a fantastic compact stroller. It was perfect for the airport, beach, pool and I had many side glances due to it being limited edition and very striking! It is definitely worth the investment and the smooth ride will pay off when it comes to nap time – believe me!
The evening entertainment wore her out! Erin was able to put the lap harness on herself but always ensure the 5-point harness is used when mobile.
