First off, I’ll start this blog by introducing myself to you – I’m Becky, the Social Media Manager for Uber Kids. I joined the team earlier this year and have been busy finding my feet and working to bring you the new Uber Kids blog! As I’m new to both Uber Kids and the nursery industry, the Kind + Jugend international trade show in Cologne was my first big chance to immerse myself in a vast array of premium baby and toddler products from around the world.
With 3 huge halls packed to the rafters with exhibitors (more than 1,200 to be exact), there was plenty to explore! From the latest innovations in car seat technology and the first glimpses at new products for 2018, through to teething toys and activity gyms – Kind + Jugend had it all!
Where to start!
After arriving in Cologne on a very wet and windy Thursday afternoon, we eagerly headed to our first appointment with iCandy. The details of their new product range are a closely guarded secret. Yet, I can tell you that they have lots to come in the new year. This includes a very exciting collaboration with Land Rover – I’m sure you’re going to love it!
Once we’d spent time with the iCandy team, it was time to start exploring the vast halls of the Koelnmesse. Our first stop was Penny Scallan Design. If you’re not familiar with this Australian-owned boutique range – all you need to know is that it’s HUGE in Australia! With 6 designs available (and more to come for 2018), their accessories including, backpacks, meal time sets, umbrellas, aprons and more, are simply adorable! There’s something for everyone from chirpy birds to space monkeys.
Scandi chic at Kind + Jugend!
A key trend clearly evident on display at this years’ show was ‘Scandi’ with many of the stands showcasing this simple, beautiful style. So if, like me, you’re a fan of this home décor style, you’ll love the range from Done by Deer. A Danish company, Done by Deer specialise in modern, lifestyle products for families and their babies and toddlers. They combine Scandinavian design with features that are fun and playful for tots. Just look at their gorgeous play mats and mealtime sets!
One of the highlight products we saw on day one was the Childhome Evolu One.80 rotating highchair! This chair has three different positions and can be turned to the left and the right. Therefore, it’s easier to pop your little one in and out of their highchair when they’re at the dinner table. I absolutely love the angel seat cushions that go with the highchair. Essentially it’s an angel-shaped cushion that gives your highchair wings!
Aside from the Evolu One.80 rotating highchair, Childhome also offers a range of stylish yet practical nursery furniture and storage. With their simply Scandinavian styling, they’ll fit seamlessly into your home.
